It's mostly freeway miles, due to my wife's 50 plus mile work commute and frequent monthly (sometimes bi-monthly) weekend trips to San Francisco (about 875 round-trip miles) or San Diego (about 325 r/t miles) once a month. The car is still running like it's new. We had the rear brakes replaced at 80k, front brakes at 95k. I do my own oil changes based on the oil indicator, using Mobil 1 and either Mobil 1 oil filter or Honda's OEM. Other than the broken rear sway bar link, which was covered by the warranty, the car's been flawless. Transmission oil was changed myself (much easier than changing the oil filter). Replaced the coolant myself with Honda's own and distilled water. It gets clay barred once a year and waxed three times a year. The leather seats are treated with Lexol or Meguire's. After the first set of original tires replaced at 89K, it was replaced with Michelins (Costco). I use all OEM parts as I have a mechanic who does the actual work for those things I don't care to do or can't and I can watch. I always provide all the items, he's strictly the labor and very reasonable. We did and still do have one 1989 Acura Integra left with 284,926 miles, but now needs a new motor. A 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 236,826 original miles, so I'd say we have good luck with cars, but also, I do maintain them all pretty well.

All while averaging about 20MPG! This Honda SUV has been my constant companion for my job which requires alot of travel; I just bought another Honda (my sixth one!) to make my household a 3 Honda household!

The clutch has been slipping for the last 40,000 kms, but still runs fine. Original engine, and transmission! I'm using synthetic oil every 9000 kms. The body is in good shape, but I'm thinking of painting it next year. With some convincing of my soon to be wife, I'm going to drive this Honda until it reaches 500,000 kms.

It had done 370,000 3 years ago when I sold it to a friend who has still has it and just turned over 450,000. Everything is original, its the top of the range model and all still works such as electric seats/windows etc. Hondas are unbeatable.
• June 22 - Dustin wrote: I purchased a 1991 Honda Accord with 258,000 miles on it last year. It now has 279,000 and runs fantastically! The car (an LX 2.2 liter 5-speed) regularly gets over 34 miles per gallon and is STILL on the original clutch! I change the oil every 3-4,000 miles and maintain the service schedule on all other items. I plan to drive the beast until it quits, then revive it and drive it some more!

Not to mention a few round trip vacations from Houston to San Diego and a few more to Corado and Wynoming and back. There has also been the big driving trip (inside America loop) that went from TX to Missouri to Arkansas to Mississippi and then back to Houston. We like driving trips :-) I love my Honda and can't wait to see if flip to 200K. I do not do anything special... just oil changes every 5-6K and normal scheduled maintance. I have had 2 issues with the air that should be fixed entirely now. Gotta have my air in Houston :-) Was planning another trip to Colorado; however, more people joined in so we need to rent a minivan. :-( I'm thinking that I should hit 200,000 miles before the end of next year - 2011. I'll let you know.)
• June 20 - Dave wrote: I have a 1992 Civic CX Hatchback that I purchased NEW in March of 92'. On June 14, 2010 it crossed the 200K milestone. First of all... I am, by trade, a Japanese car specialist. When I bought my HB, I purchased it because it was the least expensive Honda that I could buy, at the time. It cost only $8,900.00 + TT&L when I bought it. I had the dealership add a dealer-installed AC, and with the TT&L still got out for right at $10,000.00. The car has never had the drive axles replaced or the rotors or drums machined. The car gets scheduled maintenance on very regular basis with only OEM Honda parts installed. The drive axels have had several sets of boot kits and the brakes have only seen the original pads and shoes. All is replaced when still intact and without problems. The 1500 engine gets timing belt, idler, front engine seals, water pump and drive belts every 80K miles. The oil is changed every 4,500 miles using Castrol Synthetic. My clutch is original and works great. I have replaced the cluch master annd slave, as well as the brake master, due to seeping (no failures). My interior is nice, the body sound without any issues, (I live in Texas) rust or body damage. I did have the car repainted it's original Red color 4 years ago due to some clear coat failure. This is, and has been, a great car. When I bought it, it would get 32 to 35 MPG in town.... and 40 to 42 (or so) on the highway. 18 years and 200K later, the mileage is still the same. Oh.... The dealer-installed AC has never been apart. I did recharge it a time or two, then found out that schrader valve (on the high pressure charge port) was leaking a little. I replace the $1.50 valve and now all is sealed and not leaking. REMARKABLE car!

We've never had any significant problems whit it, basically regular maintenance. No rust, or dents, it still looks good. As long as it keeps running, we'll keep driving it.
• June 16 - Dawn wrote: In 2002 I bought my Honda Civic LX and now June 2010 it has 206,000 miles. It runs great and looks great. One major thing I had to do was a new transmission at 110,000 miles. I drive it every day to work and still love it. My first Honda was a 1982 Civic Wagon, it had 245,000 when I sold it in 2002 for $500. (It had a cracked head.)
• June 16 - Billy wrote: Own an 2003 Accord V6 with 265,000 miles on it. The car has been great. I had 2 problems recently. The alternator went around 242K, and the radiator cracked at 254K, other then that just a bunch of money for gas and maintenance. I plan to keep the car for several more years, anyways my local Honda dealer told me the highest mileage car they have seen com in was a '99 civic with 325,000 miles. That record will soon be broken.
• June 15 - Jim wrote: In July 2000, I bought a brand new Honda CRV which I am still driving today at 184,000 miles later. My secret has been changing the oil at regular intervals ~4000 miles and taking care of noises and problems as quickly as possible.
• June 12 - Bob wrote: 92 Accord Coupe 220k 06 Acura TL 45k I don't think there is a coincidence with high mileage and regular maintenance. My honda accord still runs like it did in 91. Sure the weathering and interior aren't as nice as my newer Acura but in terms of mechanics, the machine still performs how it was designed. Because I drive it less nowadays (mostly on the highway when I am carrying my kayak somewhere) I always get notes left on the car with people wanting to buy it. I think the secret of my success is having the regular stuff done regularly. What does that mean? Motor oil changes every 3-5k miles. Manual transmission fluid drain and fill every 50k miles or when I feel notchiness in my shifting. 4 tire alignments every year, brake pads every 15-20k. That's really all I've done. Besides the regular maintenance, on the Accord here is the total list of parts that have been replaced since purchasing on 91. 1. Front Axels Once at about 150k miles 2. Lower Ball joints once around 200k miles. 3. Timing belt and water pump 2ice at 100k and 200k 4. Clutch master cylander once after the old one failed around 210k. The axels were changed when the boots tore and started making a clicking noise. The ball joints were replaced because of clicking noises when turning slow and was also noisy over bumps. Timing belt and water pump are just something to stay on top of since that breaking can lead to major engine issues. The clutch master cylander was broken and leaking oil so I had no pressure on the clutch petal after the failure. I read a lot of these forums and see people spending lots of money on repairs. I don't think I am lucky with my cars' performance or longevity, I am just good about taking care of my girls! Cars are not made to be disposable. With proper maintenance they should last as long as you take care of them with the heavy wear parts requiring replacement maybe every 50-100k miles.

• May 30 - Ed wrote: My daily commuter is a 1998 Honda Civic LX which my wife and I bought new in Austin, Texas on Memorial Day 1998. It is dark green with 5-speed manual trans. The car has 273,000 miles on it now. It never fails to start and gas mileage is still 38 - 40 mpg on the highway. The engine, clutch, drive axles, interior are original. I had a collision with a deer two years ago which caused me to replace the hood and radiator with salvage parts. The only problem with the car over the years has been the air conditioner. I finally gave up on repairing it due to expense and I just roll the windows down, which in Texas in the summer is tough. I do all my own maintenance. This is the third Civic for us in 25 years. They all gave good service, but the 1998 Civic is the best of any car I ever owned. Thanks, Mr. Honda, for the world's best car.

My teenagers won't be caught dead in it, but who cares??? Just means less rides I gotta give at 11 at night!

I always have been worried that my lovely car aka bebesito is going to leave me on the side of the road but I travel 53 miles a day and is still running good! I replaced the clutch master cylinder but besides that... only regular oil changes and air filter. Right now I dont have AC and the car is just a running oven so i might have to invest some cash to get it fixed... once that is done we will definitely go for the 300,000 miles! Right now we are in 244k -)

I have had brake pads replaced, new tires and get regular oil changes about every 6,000 miles. A few minor things, like a broken latch on the hatchback, one power window is beginning to stick, and the clock on the dash is out, but it's paid for, and I plan to keep it for still quite some time!
