I am planning to drive it for a while and treat is as a project car. Future plans of swaping a H22A engine into it. This one is a keeper. They certainly don't build them like they used to.
01/8/12 - Samuel wrote: I purchased a 1987 Honda Prelude DX in 1999 when it had 138k on the clock and today it has more than 246k I had to purchase a 1993 Prelude Si while working and fixing an electrical and carb problem on the 87... The 93 is my low milage car purchased in 2008 with 64k and today more than 74k. Both are five speeds unmolested OEM with no rust thanks to my hot dry dust cactus state of AZ.
12/30/11 - Dave wrote: I bought my '77 Accord new in late 1976 in SoCal. I now live in Oregon and still drive it, though the driving load is currently shared by my '89 Legend and a recently acquired '86 Accord.
12/9/11 - Samantha wrote: I own a 1989 Honda Accord 4 door SE. Today I looked at the speedometer and saw 400,190.4 kilometers. I remember having to change the speedometer cable at 109,000 something so I dug out the 1999 invoice and sure enough the invoice read 109,181 kilometers. I added and I have 509,371.4 kilometers which is 305,622.84 miles on my little red car. The only complaint I have is that dealerships do not keep flat rate time for this year of vehicle in their computers and I get overcharged on flat rate time until I point the issue out.
11/23/11 - Tyson wrote: It's been awhile since I've touched base; I've posted a few mileage updates on my 1994 Acura Legend over the years. A couple of weeks ago, I turned over 500,000 miles on-site at a red carpet celebration held at Honda America in Torrance, California. I've shared some photos along with my story on my blog, "Drive to Five".
11/22/11 - Jamie wrote: I have a 1999 Honda Accord. 278,000 miles and counting. I change the oil every 3,000. Most people leave it longer, but why leave dirt in the engine that long? Only consistent problem I have is the ignition switch which goes out every 2 years. Aside from timing belts every 100,000 this car clips right along. 90 miles put on it daily. I recently toured southern Ohio to look at covered bridges with my girlfriend and we never hesitated for a second taking it out in the middle of nowhere. The car runs like new. PHOTO =>
11/19/11 - Brian wrote: I have a 2001 Honda CRV 5 speed, which I new bought in 2000, now with over 200k miles. It has only had minor work done, everything else is original. It has been across the country twice, pulling a trailer, and been a faithful mover ever since. I look forward to posting its 300k mark!
11/18/11 - Jonathan wrote: I am the 2nd owner of a 96 Honda Civic EX (MT) with 230,000 miles. This is my 10th Honda since 2001 because I just can't get enough of them. I purchased my current Civic from the original owner on 1/30/09 with 166,630 miles. The person that I bought it from was very meticulous and kept the car up to date with everything you can imagine including having the original dealer purchase invoice and every maintenance receipt for the vehicle.
11/16/11 - Richard wrote: I have a 1994 Honda Civic that I bought brand new right. It has 265,300 miles it. I have had 4 timing belts replaced on it but no major work done besides tires, battery and tune ups. I can not remember the last time I even replaced a light bulb on the car. The outside of the car has faded paint but the interior and engine compartments both look brand new. I have had Hondas since 1978 and this is my third since then. It has been a fantastic car and will be with me until I hit a millon miles if that is possible. Thanks Honda.
11/5/11 - Alan wrote: At present, my 1999 Honda Civic EX has 325,607 miles on the odometer. I purchased this car new in March 1999 with 8 miles on the odometer. It has a 5-speed manual transmission. The following items are still OE (Original Equipment, i.e. Factory)- engine, transmission, clutch, rear brakes (I KID YOU NOT), bulbs in the headlamps, as well as many others. I just replaced the timing belt at 320,992 (fourth belt is now on the vehicle). Oil change # 107 was done a week ago. I've done all but a handful of the oil changes. I have typically used either a Honda or Fram High Mileage Oil Filter with Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W-30 motor oil and have been religious about changes every 3,000 miles. In approximately 12.5 years of ownership, I have spent $20,510.42 on gas, used 8,931.425 gallons, with an average fuel economy of 36.4 mpg. The original sticker listed 30/35 (City/Hwy) as the fuel economy. Clearly, this was well before they had revised (lowered) the EPA estimates a few years back. In the warmer months, I average 37 - 39 mpg regularly. For the most part, there has really only been one major repair done to the vehicle. The rear main seal was leaking oil pretty bad at 224,782 and I had my local Honda shop fix this for $1,005. At 309,375, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) came on for the first time ever. I was like, "Whoa, what's that light, that's never come on while driving before?" I paid a muffler shop $414 to replace the catalytic converter. I've been leaking oil for some time now but my Honda mechanic says it is minimal (I lose maybe 1/2 - 2/3 quart every 3,000 miles) so I let that oil pan gasket repair go. They've used the term "blowback" as a possible cause. Knock on wood, this has been an extremely dependable vehicle. The only times it really hasn't started was when the vehicle battery died (I believe I'm on #4 in this department). The car has been driven in at least eleven different states. I had an unnamed person tell me 2.5 years ago that I was nuts for commuting between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham in a car with over 200,000 miles on it. Yeah, well now we're over 300,000 so I guess I'm nuts squared, cubed, or whatever power you want to take me to. Probably 90 - 95% of the miles on the vehicle are highway. When I use my brakes, it's probably Fred Flintstone style (bare feet). I had my only brake job (front) done at 181,708 miles. Even then, they really didn't need to be done but the rotors needed replacing, they were already in there, so I said to do it. I told the Service Advisor, "You realize you just replaced the factory brakes?" This person didn't realize what I said so I repeated "OE" and they couldn't believe it. Well, if this site is still up and I can remember, I'll check back oh say at 500,000 miles. Deal. Honda rules.
11/5/11 - Judy wrote: I have a 1998 Honda with 199,322 miles and still drives like new. Only repairs were an air conditioning problem and have replaced the brakes. I change the oil every 3000 miles & just got new tires. Plan on driving till me or the car dies!
11/4/11 - Mike wrote: My 1992 Honda Civic EX 4dr 5 spd manual has 357k miles - original engine and transmission, neither have ever been opened up. Averages 39mpg overall city and highway. I hit a deer with the car on the Interstate a few weeks back. Damage was all cosmetic with no mechanical problems. The Civic will soon be getting a new paint job because of this.
11/3/11 - Kurt wrote: My 93 Honda Civic has 349,605 miles on it and still gets 40 mpg! Never really been well taken care of, but it just keeps running. My brother is trying to catch me with his 98 Honda Accord it has 346,000.
10/27/11 - Shaubhik wrote: I have been following this website for about 5 years. I love reading about high mileage Hondas. I currently have a 2008 Honda Civic Coupe with 108,000 miles on it. It has been a lot of fun to drive. I have had no problems at all with this car. Keep the stories coming.
10/25/11 - Sue wrote: I have a 2001 Honda CRV with 263,254 miles... hopefully, I can get a few more. I've done some repairs, most recent a U joint and drive shaft. I was skeptical about making that repair, but I couldn't afford another car payment so I had to do it. I have been faithful with my oil changes. I live on Long Island and for the past 3 years been going to CT just about every other weekend, been Boston a a few times, and even to Canada. I put about 100 miles a day with my work commute. My Honda has been taken a licken but keeps on ticken.
10/20/11 - Erik wrote: I have a 1992 Acura Vigor GS automatic with 304K, I am the 2nd owner. Have replaced multiple timing belts and water pumps. Regular oil changes, replaced the radiator, distributor, blower motor, plugs & wires... An incredible car - everything still works with the exception of the wiper washer pump. All original engine and trans. The paint/clear coat is a little rough but the black with tan leather interior still looks good.
10/19/11 - Anthony wrote: I have owned my 05 Honda Civic DX since new. It currently has 186,000 miles. Only thingS changed are the timing belt and water pump at 100k and things like tires, brake pads, etc. Tranny and engine are fine. I am looking to go well into the 200's.
10/17/11 - Mike wrote: My Honda Civic 2003 LX just hit 114,000. I have had to replace an oxygen sensor. I have never got stuck on the side of the road. I just replaced the timing belt, fuel pump, front tires, front brake pads and battery at 95k, everything else is original. I have the oil changed every 5k to 8k miles. I have to use the valet key to open the drivers side door, the other 2 keys are worn and jam in the lock, they do however work fine in the other door and trunk lock.
10/16/11 - Mike wrote: I have had a number of Hondas, all went well beyond my expectations before failing. '86 CRX had a turned clock, but went to an estimated 186k, the last 30k on three cylinders due to bent valves from a broken timing belt. '90 Accord went to 298k, until electrical problems and oil leaks made me donate it. These cars were used, and I never had a new car since my current daily driver, a '95 Integra GS-R. I took good care of her with Mobil 1 oil and filter every 5k. Just pulled the drain plug for the 76th time (376k) I have never replaced any accessories, except the battery twice, or done any engine work except belts, water pump and valve timing. I have replaced the clutch once due to a well known defect, and the radiator twice, struts and drive shafts once, and the first bulbs burned out only last year! I still get 29.5 mpg at 78 mph on mixed freeway driving, but do burn about a quart between changes. I have 2k miles pulling a 2600 lb, 40' glider trailer. I can get as much as 22 mpg WITH the trailer. I hope to make it over 410k in the next two years, after that perhaps put in a new type "R" motor and 6 speed with LSD which are still available.
10/16/11 - Nancy wrote: I love my 2001 Honda Accord. It has 309,000 miles on it and still looks and runs like new. Regular oil changes and maintenance is all I have done. Just got my second set of front brakes, timing belt and third set of tires. Ready for another 100,000.
10/15/11 - Jack wrote: I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX Wagon and we just turned over 500,000 miles today! I have maintained this car dutifully and still drive it every day. I hope to make it to 1,000,000 miles. I have replaced the Air Conditioner compressor, radiator and alternator but the engine is original as well as just about everything else. I'm very happy with her.
10/14/11 - Jo wrote: I am the original owner of a 1996 Honda Accord with 328,000 miles. We have only replaced the radiator, starter and alternator. Regular maintenance oil changes, timing belt, and new tires! Great shape with only small spot of rust on one door! We love our Honda! People at the oil change shop always want to buy it.
10/11/11 - Gabriel wrote: My 1998 Honda Accord 4 cylinder EX-L auto has 247,000 miles and still going, with the original engine and transmission. Have only had to replace starter, catalytic converter and do regular maintenance, including a timing belt and water pump. Always used Mobil 1 syn oil and have never had a problem.
10/9/11 - Susan wrote: My 1987 Civic Si with 266K is still VERY peppy! She is such a hot little car she was actually stolen recently. Long story short, we got her back. The thief had put on a new air filter, gear shift knob and done an oil change! She's going to a new home Monday, she will be the first car for a high school girl. The adventure never ends...
10/8/11 - George wrote: I have a 1996 Honda Accord EX, which has 196,600 on it now. I just changed the oil pan recently, and I am only the 2nd owner. It still runs like a top.
